Lent

Aaron and I both elected to give up coffee for Lent. I decided to take it a step further and give up all caffeine.

It's 1:43pm and I desperately need a nap. This is going to be a very very very long day.

Our dogs are voracious readers!

They devoured Iris Johansen's "Quicksand" today.

Let the games begin

We had a general contractor out this morning to do an estimate on expanding our upstairs bathroom. Aaron just cannot abide by how small it is, and must have a jacuzzi tub.

The fence guy came around 2 to give us an estimate on fixing the fence. Obviously, this is our first priority since it blew down last week and it's currently propped up by a couple of boards.

The window guy will be here in the next 20 minutes to give us an estimate on putting vinyl windows in the bathroom. Since the house was built in 1925, the windows are all framed in wood. Back then they didn't have showers - just claw foot tubs. With a shower in there, we've got a shower curtain over the window so the wood doesn't get wet. It's kinda dumb.

Goodbye tax refund, and vacation fund, and tv fund...

Kenya Speaks

Who needs the basics like sit and stay when your dog will speak on command?

Registry

I am very confused about gift registries.

On the one hand, it's "tacky" to tell people about them, because it's like you are fishing for a gift.

On the other hand, when 10 different people have asked you in the past 2 weeks, it's obvious that people want to know.

We're registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Target. Nichole is registered at Williams Sonoma. I say that because Aaron could give two hoots about all that kitchen stuff. He just needs a pot and a fork to survive.

And of course, we'd love donations in our name to Indy Pit Crew, Feeding America, Susan G. Komen or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

But really, we just want people to come party in Vegas with us. No gift necessary.

Meet Kenya

25 days and counting until the wedding! Yay!

We have a new foster dog. We swapped Clara for Kenya over the weekend, after Clara and Joe got into a nasty spat on Friday morning over a tennis ball. ASTRO hosted an adoption event on Saturday at Petco, and Clara was grumpy with every dog there. I hope she just needs a few days to cool off.

Kenya is much smaller than Clara and has a completely docile personality. She is the cutest thing.

When we introduced her and Joe, they immediately started playing - and Kenya was in the crate.

I haven't seen Joe that happy in ages.

When it rains, it pours

And your fence falls down.

Actually, it wasn't even raining, just reallllllly windy last night.

The timing couldn't have been better. We have an outrageous electric bill and a wedding coming up in a month.
Thank goodness the tax returns are on their way.

Hooray for home ownership!

Check, check aaaand Check

Yesterday I was a busy little bee.
  • Made reservations for the dogs at the kennel
  • Booked a rental car for the honeymoon
  • Decided what to do about overshooting the estimated guest count
  • Arranged for the "first look" package at the chapel. They'll send two separate limos to get Aaron and I, so that we don't see each other before the ceremony. We can't really work out not seeing each other at all on Saturday, but we won't see each other dressed and looking AMAZING until I walk down the aisle.

Today, my wedding ring is supposed to arrive!!!!

This weekend hopefully I can knock a few other things off the list:
  • Get a pen for the guest book
  • Finish my bouquet and make boutonnieres for the groomsmen
  • Get attendants gifts

Valentine's and 1 month!

Saturday will be doubly wonderful, as it's Valentine's Day as well as exactly 1 month until the wedding!!!!!!

All of a sudden, I feel like things went into time warp. There was some planning before (mostly just decision making), but now I really need to make sure everything is wrapped up.

I wish a little bit that everything was just DONE so I could sit back and be excited, but it's not. There's some little loose ends to tie up, my dress to get finished (!!!).

Our weeks have been flying by, I think that one month will be here in the blink of an eye! Aieee!

Will Wonders Never Cease...

Who knew I would actually partake in this "blogging" business. Well upon further review, since it is a way people are actually keeping up with the Jones', uh I mean, the Heilbrons' and I know it is important to the future Mrs. Heilbron, I thought I would make a short appearance. The wedding is coming up quickly, which Nichole reminds me of on a daily basis, LOL, and I am excited. Knowing that my best friend I will be in this for the long haul makes me feel very good. Not that putting the label of "married" on it makes my love for her any stronger, but I will love to call her my wife and in turn have her call me her husband and know that it is a union recognized by GOD and the courts is AWESOME! I am just waiting to get on a conference call right now as Nichole sleeps with all the puppies upstairs. All I hear from up there is Nichole occasionally going to the bathroom and flushing the toilet! LOL! Anyway, got some more work to do before my call...

SEACREST OUT!

Pre-Wedding Plans

Aaron and I have made reservations for dinner at 5:30 on Friday night in Las Vegas. If you're planning to be in town that evening and want to join us, let me know. I sent everyone an Evite, but not sure that everyone has seen it.

We're eating at Battista's Hole in the Wall (I guess it's a tradition for Aaron's family). Dinner will be between $28 and $35 per person depending on what you order. Bring cash as they won't split the check.

I need to know around March 5 if you're going to make it.

6 weeks.

6 little, tiny, meager, wee weeks.

I am starting to bubble over with excitement! (and nervousness, but hey, that's what the therapist is for haha).

My wedding jewelry arrived on Saturday. It looks awesome. I'm so jazzed. The "guest book" also arrived. I'll just need to get a cool pen for it. My mom said the cake stand was delivered, but she hasn't opened it yet to make sure all the pieces are there and not broken. I'm just waiting on my hair stuff and we still need to get our attendants gifts.

I was supposed to have my first fitting for the dress this weekend, but we pushed it back. Rachael, maybe knowing me too well at this point, assured me it will be done in plenty of time and I shouldn't stress out.

I wish we'd gotten our electric bill BEFORE we made the honeymoon plans... our bill is $900! That's a month in the old house, and 6 weeks in the new house. Painful. I hope spring gets here quick so our sad furnace can stop working so hard. Aaron and I are already on spending lockdown.

We're finally getting our AT&T Uverse installed tomorrow. It's only been 6 weeks since we've been without a DVR. It's actually kind of nice, but we've been going out a lot to entertain ourselves. With the aforementioned spending lockdown, the TV will be a cheaper alternative.

HOLY COW WE ARE GETTING MARRIED IN 6 WEEKS!
